Translation of websites is one of my specialties. A website which is translated in a good way, will increase the amount of regular visitors and attract more potential customers. Translation of websites should therefore be left with translators and proofreaders who have the target language as a mother tongue, and who also have knowledge of the local market. They should ideally also be resident in the country where the target language is used.
Why should you translate your websites?
An effective website is one of the most cost effective marketing tools you can use to extend your market globally. Websites can be read from anywhere in the world, and this means that you, by having a website, technically have an unlimited market online. If you translate your websites, they can be found through searches in the local language, and your customer base will consequently increase. A high quality website translation is a one-time investment for your business.
Several studies emphasize the importance of translating websites to achieve success in a local market. This becomes more and more evident as the years go by, since it becomes more and more common to offer a products/websites in the local language. Some interesting facts:
- 56,2% av of consumers say that the ability to obtain information in their own language is more important than price. (Common Sense Advisory, Can’t Read, Won’t Buy: Why Language Matters on Global Websites, 2006)
- 74% of multinational enterprises believe offering a product/websites in the local language is either important or most important to achieve increased revenues from global operations. (California State University at Chico, 2007)
- A critical success factor for cross-border merger and acquisition deals is the ability to communicate information clearly and accurately in multiple languages. (Merrill Corporation, How to do Better Multinational M&A Deals, 2008)
It is today commonly known that Norwegians top the lists when it comes to online shopping in Europe. No one shops more often than we do! According to a survey done by the Norwegian company MPX, Norwegians prefer to shop on “Norwegian” websites. One of the reasons for this, is that Norwegians trust Norwegian web shops more than foreign ones. All the research also shows that the consumers’ user experience is far better on Norwegian web shops than foreign ones.
It hence seems have an almost unlimited market available, and 9 out of 10 Norwegians shop online! According to the population as of January 1st 2015, we then have 4.65 million potential customers. What are you waiting for? I translate individual documents or even through your own CMS, if desired. I also offer review of websites which have already been translated and/or are already established.
